MyWork

The workspace for running programmes — built around the fact that the best work in this sector is done by more than one organisation.

Summary in a nutshell

My mission

Working together should cost less than working alone — because the problems this sector takes on were never shaped to fit inside one organisation.

Wishlist from our ecosystem

These are the things people in this ecosystem wish they had.

A programme lead

Running a project that spans three organisations, two districts and a lot of goodwill.

An organisation

Collaborates often. Pays for it in coordination every time.

4 wishes. Grant the ones you would.

Collaboration here has always been goodwill carried on top of software that assumes a single organisation. The goodwill was never the part that was missing.

The loop it is stuck in

Five quantities, in the same order in both states. Watch the second arrow — it is the only thing that changes.

The coordination tax

One negative link. Every partner a project adds makes it harder to run.

The one change

Let the plan belong to the project, not to each organisation in it.

Look at the second link. Every organisation runs its projects properly, in its own tools. So a three-partner project carries three plans that must be kept in agreement, and the coordination cost rises with every partner added. Ambition is taxed.

So organisations quietly choose the smaller partnership, and nobody records the decision as a loss. The loop balances: everyone collaborates a little, no one collaborates much, and the sector attempts roughly what a single organisation can hold.

Let the plan belong to the project rather than to each organisation, and the link changes sign. A fourth partner then joins a workspace that already exists instead of starting a fourth copy of it — cheaper than the third was, not dearer.
